Ross will be familiar to Earthmover readers through his monthly column, which usually offers a snippet of sage and profound advice based on a lifetime of experience as a contractor himself.
A humble but affable character, Ross is as comfortable one on one, as he is in front of an auditorium full of people. His engaging presence is just one of the reasons he is requested so often as a speaker at professional functions, his effervescent outlook for the future of our industry is another.
In recent articles Ross has waved a few caution flags, but he remains a contractor to the core and works tirelessly to further our key industry causes. After a number of successful years as CCF President, we await news about the next chapter in the life of Ross Barrett OAM; and welcome his unique skill set to The EMCC Awards Judging Panel.
If you dont know the name Don Stein then you should probably be a little ashamed of yourself, it is a rarity to find an individual who has been pro-actively involved in so much positive change, across so many different areas of our industry.
Don tells a great story about being booked for driving his tyred roller on a public road because the tyres were bald and had no tread. As a contractor you can thank Don for not having to deal with that one every time you go to work each day, in fact you can you can thank him for a lot of things and do it in person at this years 2013 Earthmover & Civil Contractor Awards Dinner.
If you cant make it along to the dinner and its worth the trip alone to meet him then keep your eye out for an upcoming book title: Fire in the Belly by Don Stein AM. It is a true honour for us to have the inaugural Earthmover & Civil Contractor Hall of Fame inductee on The EMCC Awards Judging Panel.
Doug is another member of our judging panel who is also a contractor to his core. Best known for his up-front and no-nonsense writing style, Doug has never been backward in coming forward with an idea of his own, or expressing an opinion about one of someone elses ideas.
His regular column in the pages of Earthmover is extremely popular with readers who likely identify with his construction industry experience and attitudes on keeping things simple.
With a broad range of contracting experience, Doug brings a truly distinctive skill set to The EMCC Awards Judging Panel and we welcome him as always with great enthusiasm.
